Description
The St. Petersburg antiques salon “Antikvariat” takes place in the centre of St. Petersburg, in a 19th-century building at 13 Inzhenernaya Street, part of the palace complex of Mikhailovsky (Engineers) Castle. The venue is located 300 metres from Nevsky Prospekt, opposite Mikhailovsky Manege.
The exhibition brings together leading antique shops and private collectors from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Russian regions and neighbouring countries. Visitors can explore historical objects in direct contact with antique items and, if desired, purchase pieces they like. Experts are present at the event and appraise the exhibited items free of charge.
The building is a cultural heritage site and is protected by UNESCO as part of the historic centre of St. Petersburg. It was built in 1798–1800 and partially rebuilt in 1823–1824.
