Mobile Telesystems Inc. is a company in the state Maryland, USA, which elaborates, manufactures and delivers telecommunication equipment and services in the field of mobile cellular connection in the International System Inmarsat and systems of radiorelay and radio communication. MTI started its activity as a part of COMSAT Corp. in 1978 and immediately became well-known as a manufacturer of mobile cellular system TCS-Lite and its navy analogue variant.
Being since 1988 an independent, private corporation, MTI became one of the leaders in the field of manufacture and delivery of telecommunication equipment.
Today MTI means : sale of the systems and services in more than 80 countries of the world; representatives and service centres in the whole world, a plant in Taiwan, a plant in USA, 50 % of the capital in Marine Technology International (Great Britain), 20 % are in the projects Inmarsat-3, Planet-1.
The amount of sales of MTI in 1996 came to $40 million. MTI signed the largest agreement on delivery of telecommunication equipment with the government of US.
