Industry
Kiev is one of the leading industrial centers of Ukraine.
There are more than 400 large industrial factories and thousands small
factories in the city.
Kiev industry is a unique production complex, which includes factories almost
of all fields except mining industry factories.
Kiev is known by it's production of the planes, sea and river ships,
computers, radio sets, excavators, technological equipment for many industry
branches chemical-pharmaceutical production, building materials,
cable production.
There are unique military factories in Kiev, such as: "Arsenal",
"Bolshevik", "Kvant", "Saturn".
Climate
Kiev is situated in the north part of Ukraine, on the border of the steppe and
forest zone
mixed forest zone, on the both banks of Dnepr.
Kiev's relief is the planes: Levoberezhje - is on the Pridneprovsk lowland,
the north part of Pravoberezhje - is Polessk lowland,
the south part - is Pridneprovsk Hill.
High right bank of Dneprin Kiev's region is on the Pridneprovsk Hill spurs
(Kiev plateau).
There are a lot of hollows and ravines there.
The highest place (106 m) above Dnepr level is in the east part of the city,
in Pechersk region. Then it slowly goes down to the west,
to the wide valleys of the r. Lubed, Kreschatic and Skomorokha.
Then it goes up again to Batuev mountain.
The lowest place of relief is in Podol (4-8 m above the river level).
Kiev's climate is gently continental, the winter is soft and summer is warm.
Average January temperature: -6.0°С, July: +19.1°С.
Average annual atmospheric precipitation level is 600 mm.
Air humidity - 51% in May and 95% in December.
