Economy.
In overall production the leading role play belongs to machinebuilding and metalworking
industries, electric power industry, chemistry and petrochemistry, timber,
woodworking, paper and pulp, food industries. In recent years ferrous and
non-ferrous industries have been quickly developing.
Main enterprises: plants - "Elektromashzavod n.a. Lepse" JSC, "Avitek", "Mayak", machine tool building,
soil cultivating machines, "Fizpribor", instrument making "Krin", building equipment, electrical domestic
appliances, tire, synthetic building materials, non-ferrous metalworking, biochemical plants.
Great prospects are coming from opportunities to use scientific and technical
potential and biotechnological production. For this purpose
an interuniversity center of collective work was created on the base of the former
scientific and industrial complex of Scientific and Research Institute of
Microbiology of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation as well as
Omutninsk Scientific Experimental and Industrial Complex is used. In 2007 the building
of plant on production of blood preparations was started, which is one of the largest plants
in Europe.
High tech agroholdings were created in the field of agriculture, agricultural
business increases its profits. For the main part the animal breeding and grain
cultivation are developed. The cultivation of grain crops, fibre flax,
potatoes, vegetables are cultivated, also there is meat, milk, wool and eggs production.

of Kirov town (former Dymkovo settlement).
