The city is situated in the Prisukhonskaya lowland, 497 km north-east of
Moscow. Pier on the Vologda River, the right influx of the Sukhona River.

handicrafts are presented by the lace netting company "Snezhinka" CJSC and "Nadezhda"
JSC.
The leading branch of agriculture - dairy husbandry, which is
about 70% of all agricultural products.
