It is situated in a circle on the bald mountains of the southernmost tip of Muravyov-Amursky
Peninsula, around the Golden Horn Bay, along the eastern shore of the Amur Bay of the
Sea of Japan, 9302 km east of Moscow.
Industry.
The city has a developed industry and plays a full role in the country's economy,
because it is a conveniently located sea port.
Industrial mechanical engineering includes shipbuilding and shoprepairing,
production of equipment for fishery (instrument making, professional equipment
and radio manufacturing plants).
Non-ferrous metallurgy (tin, polymetal, wolfram).
Timber and woodworking industry.
Light industry ("Zarya" garment factory).
Food (fish-works, bakery, meat processing plants, dairy plant, confectionery, distilleries and breweries).
Building industry (plants of building materials, reinforced concrete structures and industrial complexes of large-panel house-building).
Vladivostok is the important traffic terminal for goods imported from Japan,
South Korea and China. Import of second hand cars from Japan takes a considerable part of the trade flow.
Agriculture: rice, buckwheat, soya, wheat, oats, potatoe and vegetables
are cultivated here, furs and dags are hunted. Meat and dairy husbandry,
fur farming (mink, black fox), deer farming (dappled deer), bee keeping are highly
developed.
