The oldest of them is St. Sophia Cathedral, which building began in 1045.
It is located inside the Kremlin - historical center of the city. Since 1999 the famous
Ryurik ancient settlement was included within the city boundary.
The Antoniev Monastery (beginning of the 12th century) with the cathedral of
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin (1117), the Yuriev Monastery (was mentioned since
the beginning of the 12th century) with St. George Cathedral (1119).
The most famous of the later city sightseeings is the monument to the Millennium of Russia, errected in 1862.
